Located in Hokandara, Sri Lanka, this residence sits alongside an expansive paddy field, with the main living spaces oriented towards the view. The house is simple and functional, arranged around an open-plan living and dining area, allowing everyday activities to extend out towards the landscape and surrounding garden. A garden at the front of the house, centred around a drooping tree, provides shade and a sense of enclosure on arrival. A large verandah overlooks the garden and paddy field beyond, offering a comfortable space for gatherings, meals, and outdoor living throughout the day. The material palette is simple and robust, combining exposed brick, timber, and concrete. These materials are left largely unfinished, giving the house a warm, natural character while reflecting the straightforward nature of its rural setting.
